This the first of Indridason's crime novels based on his detective Erlender and I had read all the books in the series so far before seeing this. It also has great intrigue and sombre atmosphere.
For some reason, the book is now called Tainted Blood. I love Scandinavian crime fiction, I love the Swedish Wallander TV series for its bleakness and forensic character studies. I loved the Millenium Trilogy by Larsson, both books and films, so thought I might enjoy this Icelandic one as well. Well you'll just have to watch it to find out. Ólafía Hrönn Jónsdóttir is better-than-perfect as Elínborg, fleshing out the rather loosely sketched character from the book into a downtrodden, unglamorous, good natured copper.
