At the time it was hammered by the critics for being dated but now it seems no more dated than any other film to come out of the same period "Bonnie and Clyde" , "the Graduate" etc. True, this seems fairly lame from the man who brought us "The Great Dictator", but it's passable. I cannot believe the number of people who wrote favorable reviews of this movie. And the chemistry between Brando and Loren is phenomenal.
The casting of Brando and Loren further boosted these expectations. There are some very funny moments early on and Brando plays the role of the uptight politician perfectly.
